The Company offers quality and prices in the best combination possible
to both professionals and private individuals through its Cash & Carry and My Market stores.
The Company METRO ΑΕΒΕ
operates on a double level since its sells products to professionals at
wholesale prices through its Cash &
Carry stores and at retail prices through its My Market stores.

In 1976 the first Cash
& Carry store opened in Athens in Petrou Ralli Street.

In 1977 the Company's Headquarters moved to Syggrou Avenue and two years later its staff rose to 100
individuals.

In 1983 the
Company's Headquarters and Central Depots moved to a self-owned building in Metamorfosi, while the 10th
store of the chain opened in Pireos
Street in Moschato the following year.

In 1987 it was the
first Company to install portable terminals at its stores for
registering inventories and orders.

Three years later, in 1990,
scanning devices were installed at its wholesale
stores.

In the same year the
first METRO store
opened in Rhodes and
the 20th store in Attica, in
Ilioupolis.

In 1994 the Company's Headquarters expanded, while its staff exceeded 1,000 individuals.

In 1995 the Company had 30 stores when its store in Koropi opened and in 1996
a scanning system was
installed at the Company's Super Markets
as well.

In 1997 an Entertainment
and Training Centre was set up in Metamorfosi, while the Company's 40th store opened in Corfu.

The following year, the
Company won First Prize for its
Creativity awarded by the UN Information
Center for
the Company's participation in the Brochure Contest on the occasion of the 50th
anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

In 1999 the Company's President Mr Pantelis Panteliadis took over SESME's presidency.

In 2000 the chain's central depots were expanded and the Company's
50th store opened in Serres.

In 2002 the Company had
60 stores after opening a new outlet in Marathonas.

In the beginning of 2004 an
area of 100,000 sq.m., was
bought at Inofita in Viotia, in order to establish a new Distribution Center.
- Two years later, in 2006, the Company had
70 stores after opening
a new My Market store in Ioannina.
