METRO's Distribution Center occupies
an area of 15,500 sq.m. and services all the Company's stores.
Proper positioning of products ensures the best method for loading
merchandise to be transported to its stores, since products are positioned in
exactly the same way they are positioned in our stores.
The time required from the moment a store places its orders to the time the
orders are finally executed is 12 hours for greengroceries, while all other
items are delivered within 24 hours in stores located in Attica
and within 36 hours in stores located elsewhere. All stores in Attica are
supplied with 2 deliveries every day; the first of these deliveries is
completed by 8.00 a.m with greengroceries, while stores outside Attica receive supplies 3 times a week.
Refrigerating chambers and METRO's fleet of refrigerated trucks ensure safe
storage and transport of perishables. Every day more than 20,000 product codes are delivered through the 16 delivery ramps and the 10
dispatch ramps; our products are dispatched by a fleet of 31 self-owned
trucks, doing 60 dispatch journeys daily on average.
The new state-of-the-art METRO
Distribution Center
 In the first three months of 2008, the new METRO
Distribution Center
is expected to start operating; it will be one of the biggest and most modern
distribution centers in Greece.
The new Distribution Center
is located in a self-owned area (98,151.966
sq.m.) situated at Inofita
in Viotia.
The building facilities consist of depots with a total
area of 40,116.270 sq.m. while
the buildings reserved for fixed facilities and the working teams have a total
area of 1,530.00 sq.m.
The cost of the investments amounts to 30,000,000 €.
The Central Depot consists of the following:

DELIVERY-DISPATCH SECTION,
of a total area of 4,011.40 sq.m. and 49 ramps.

DRY FREIGHT SECTION - SEASONAL
BAZAAR, of a total area of 21,300.57 sq.m. which can
accommodate up to 14,100 product codes in 23,500 palettes and 3,840 boxes.

MEAT - GREENGROCERIES - PERISHABLES
SECTION - , of a total area of 83,770.60 sq.m. which can accommodate 2,070 product
codes in 5,100 palettes (for packaged meat) in a special place where meats are
hung.

a total capacity for 70 pieces of machinery.
